课程的教学目的与任务
本课程的教学目的在于使学生了解英语语音的基础知识，掌握英语音素的发音方法、音位变体并能正确发音；了解英语的音节结构，掌握不同音素组合的发音；了解英音和美音的区别和发音特点；了解英语的音节结构、轻重音、节奏、语流音变和语调等基本知识；通过大量的练习，帮助学生最终达到能够准确、清晰、流畅、熟练、自然地朗读和说话，并能正确、得体地使用语调，通过正确的语音语调达到交际的目的。
课程的基本要求
教学：通过课堂教学，使学生了解英语语音基本知识，掌握英语音素的正确发音方法并能正确发音；能运用拼读规则和音标准确、清晰、流畅、熟练、自然地进行朗读；了解并掌握词重音、句子重音、节奏、语流音变和语调等基本知识及朗读技巧，达到语调比较自然，语流较为顺畅，并能正确、得体地使用语调进行交际。
实践：基础阶段的英语语音课不是有关语音学理论的课程，而是实践性很强的一门课，侧重语音训练，重点是培养学生正确的英语发音习惯。因此，应有至少一半的时间用来进行发音训练。
